Cristiano Ronaldo, a legendary figure in soccer, suggests that the upcoming season might be his last in the sport. In an interview with Vogue, the 41-year-old Portuguese star indicated this could be his final year. Recently married to Georgina Rodríguez, Ronaldo’s focus may now be on family life.
“Probably my last year of football,” Ronaldo stated, sharing his thoughts on this turning point in his career.
Ronaldo currently plays with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, joining them in 2023. During his tenure, he has impressively scored 102 goals in 107 matches. Despite his efforts, his team, Portugal, was eliminated by Spain in the Round of 16 during the recent World Cup.
Throughout his international career, Ronaldo has made significant contributions, scoring 11 goals in 27 World Cup appearances and 146 goals in 233 matches for Portugal. He expressed his ambition to “leave a spectacular legacy.” Indeed, his achievements on the pitch indicate his impact over many years.
As Ronaldo transitions towards life after football, he stated, “I have my future all mapped out.” He noted that the end of his soccer career could leave “a big hole,” but he aims to stay active with multiple interests like travel and padel.
Al-Nassr’s season begins Tuesday. If this marks Ronaldo’s final season, it will conclude on May 28, 2027. Over his career, he has won the Ballon d’Or five times and received a record 18 nominations for this prestigious award.
