Passengers on a Delta flight heading to Orlando were evacuated using slides after the plane made an emergency landing on a taxiway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This incident followed shortly after the aircraft’s departure on Saturday morning.

The plane, which had approximately 200 passengers and six crew members on board, encountered a smoke issue in the flight deck, prompting an emergency procedure. The plane had taken off from Atlanta just before 7:30 a.m. and then returned to make an emergency landing.

According to a Delta spokesperson, evacuation slides were used for the passengers and crew to leave the plane on the taxiway, after which they were transported by bus to the terminal. The spokesperson stated, “The flight crew followed procedures to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after reports of fumes in the flight deck.”

A slide evacuation was conducted on the taxiway, ensuring the safety of all involved. Delta is now in the process of reaccommodating the travelers on a different aircraft. The spokesperson emphasized Delta’s commitment to safety, expressing apologies for the experiences faced by passengers.

Efforts are underway to rebook passengers to Orlando, and the involved aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance review, according to Delta.
