Conor McGregor is focused on recovery following a quick end to his UFC 329 fight. After a five-year hiatus, his match against Max Holloway on July 11 started energetically but concluded abruptly due to a knee injury.
McGregor’s attempt to execute a running kick, quickly followed by a head kick, highlighted the intensity of his return. Unfortunately, the kicks resulted in a slip, revealing a knee injury. Despite his effort to continue, McGregor’s right leg gave way less than two minutes into the match. Referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight at 69 seconds due to a torn ACL.
On social media, McGregor shared a video update, announcing a successful surgery. “The Mac is back, baby. My knee is repaired, surgery was a success, and I’m on the road to recovery,” he stated, expressing confidence in his comeback. He referenced inspiring figures like Dominick Cruz, Georges St. Pierre, Tom Brady, and Adrian Peterson, who have all returned strongly from ACL injuries.
McGregor’s resolute spirit was evident. He assured fans of his return to the octagon, saying, “We’ll be back… In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.” He was candid about his surprise and frustration with the injury, describing it as having “come out of nowhere” despite being in peak condition before the fight.
UFC 329 marked McGregor’s first appearance since July 2021, when he suffered a leg injury against Dustin Poirier. Since 2020, McGregor has logged only one victory, underscoring his current challenge and determination to reclaim his standing in the sport.
