Jesse Watters, during his segment on ‘Jesse Watters Primetime,’ has taken aim at former ’60 Minutes’ correspondent Scott Pelley, calling him a ‘drama queen’ for likening his departure from CBS to experiencing a spouse’s murder. Watters criticizes Pelley’s emotional recounting and questions his awareness of media bias.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed ’60 Minutes’ executive producer, Nick Bilton, is focusing on reducing leaks and rumors surrounding CBS’s newsroom. Bilton stressed, ‘Since my arrival, there’s nearly a rumor a day, 95% of which are fabrications.’ In a memo acquired by Fox News Digital, he stated his preference for channeling energy into producing television content.
“If something matters to you, come ask me,” Bilton wrote. He emphasized his intent for the show to be known for its broadcast content.
Bilton’s memo also addressed logistical updates in preparation for the upcoming 59th season. Key changes include a transition to a real-time digital story board, replacing the traditional dry-erase method for tracking production progress.
Bilton tackled inquiries about office attendance, suggesting that while shooting and traveling are priorities, office presence remains important. ‘This show isn’t created by individuals isolated at desks in different zip codes,’ Bilton remarked.
His appointment comes as part of CBS’s strategy to revamp ’60 Minutes.’ Bari Weiss, CBS News editor-in-chief, selected Bilton to lead as several correspondents and the former executive producer, Tanya Simon, exited.
Veteran correspondent Scott Pelley was also dismissed following a contentious meeting with Bilton and Weiss.
Recently, Bilton announced the addition of New York Times columnist Ross Douthat and CBS veteran Norah O’Donnell as part of the team. New contributors include Sebastian Junger, Gianna Toboni, and Trevor Phillips, among others.
