Connor Michael Murphy, a well-known influencer famous for his ‘looksmaxxing’ content, tragically died by apparent drowning on July 7 in Thailand. He was 32 years old. The American content creator’s passing was confirmed through social media posts by his friends on July 8.
Authorities in Samut Prakan province, located about 16 miles south of Bangkok, responded to a call on a Tuesday afternoon regarding disturbances at a luxury rental home. Reports by the Bangkok Post and Thairath suggested Murphy displayed erratic behavior prior to the incident.

A staff member from the residential complex captured video footage of Murphy before he entered a nearby lake, as reported by Khaosod English. Allegedly, prior to his entry into the lake, Murphy had a dispute with a security guard at the rental location, according to the Bangkok Post.
Witnesses revealed to Khaosod English that Murphy swam for several minutes but appeared to lose strength. They chose not to enter the 10-meter-deep lake due to safety concerns. Divers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation took approximately 30 minutes to locate Murphy, who had drifted about 20 meters from shore.
A statement from the Samut Prakan Provincial Police indicated that initial assessments showed no signs of foul play. Murphy’s body was transferred to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for further examination.
Connor Murphy gained a substantial following on social media platforms such as Instagram by sharing his transformation journey from a lean teenager to a fitness model and competitive bodybuilder. His audience on YouTube and Instagram exceeded 2.7 million followers.
Murphy resided in a luxury villa with his 22-year-old girlfriend, identified only as Bee by Khaosod English. They had a three-month rental agreement for the property, which the Bangkok Post valued at around 22 million baht (approximately $600,000) with a rental price of 35,000 baht per month (over $1,000).
The police noted some damage in the villa, with black and yellow paint splashed on furniture and decorations. Bee informed police the damage occurred overnight while she was asleep in another room and mentioned Murphy’s abnormal behavior that day, as reported by local outlets.
Murphy was affiliated with the looksmaxxing community, a subculture focusing on enhancing physical appearance. His social media activity was last recorded on July 3, with a video showing him playing with a soccer ball in a luxury home. His last YouTube update appeared six days before his demise.
The investigation into Murphy’s death is still open, with further details pending.
