A recent report by a cryptocurrency analytics firm reveals how those who invested in the Trump memecoin have experienced financial losses. Most retail investors have faced significant losses, while more sophisticated traders have managed better outcomes.
Nearly 1 million people who purchased President Trump’s memecoin have suffered financial losses amounting to $3.81 billion as of the end of June, according to the analytics report from Nansen. In contrast, Mr. Trump himself received a hefty payout of $636 million from the same investment, as part of a total of at least $2.2 billion from his various business ventures in 2025.
Mr. Trump profited regardless of the memecoin’s price fluctuations, earning returns from the trading activity of the tokens. He actively encouraged his followers to trade the memecoin using his Truth Social account.
Despite initial skepticism towards digital currencies, Mr. Trump recognized the opportunity for substantial profits in 2024, during his presidential campaign. Joined by his sons, he established World Liberty Financial, a crypto startup that launched a coin called $WLFI, which has also seen a sharp decline.
Just days before his inauguration, Mr. Trump revealed the $TRUMP memecoin, another Trump-branded investment. This novelty currency holds little practical value but has been at the center of a substantial financial fallout for his supporters.
