Vice President JD Vance Comments on Trump’s Dress Code Rules

Vice President JD Vance has discussed strict dress code rules implemented by President Donald Trump for Cabinet members. Speaking on the ‘Hang Out with Sean Hannity’ podcast, Vance shared insights into Trump’s dress code expectations, which emphasize traditional formal attire.

Vance highlighted Trump’s belief that public officials must honor the institutions they serve by presenting themselves professionally. Trump’s rules, which even extend to a preference against brown shoes, reflect the idea that respecting the office includes dressing appropriately.

‘The president has a certain sense that you ought to respect the place, you ought to respect the institution, respect the office. And one of the ways you do that is by dressing like a normal person,’ Vance explained.

According to Vance, Trump consistently wears navy suits, black shoes, and solid ties. These choices contrast with the attire of many modern politicians. Vance noted Trump’s occasional teasing of Cabinet members who wear brown shoes instead of black ones.

In an earlier interview on ‘The Brian Kilmeade Show,’ Trump confirmed addressing wardrobe issues by buying new shoes for his officials if necessary. He said, ‘When they tell me they have a problem, I say, ‘Let me get you a pair of shoes.”

President Trump also reportedly commented on attire during meetings. One such instance involved Ukrainian President Zelenskyy at the Oval Office, where he was asked about his choice of clothing. At a subsequent meeting, Zelenskyy wore more formal attire, which was noted positively by Trump and others.

Vance also recalled Trump’s remarks about Don Jr.’s attire during a 9/11 memorial event in 2024. Trump commented on Don Jr.’s choice of a wide collar shirt, highlighting Trump’s preference for conventional dress codes.

Madison, part of Fox News Digital’s Flash team, reported these insights from Vance’s podcast appearance.
