Tensions Rise as Israeli Strikes in Lebanon Threaten U.S.-Iran Talks

Relations between Israel and the Trump administration have become tense. U.S. intelligence agencies express concerns that Israeli military actions in Lebanon could endanger a fragile peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran.

In the southern Lebanese village of Qlaileh, a mother and her son walk past their destroyed home. They are among the few remaining in the village after many residents who had returned earlier in the week fled again following intense Israeli airstrikes overnight.

Israeli attacks in Lebanon target Hezbollah, a group considered a threat by Israel. However, this strategy might have broader implications. U.S. agencies worry that continued strikes could hinder progress in discussions between the U.S. and Iran, where Israel has been largely excluded.
