The 2026 FIFA World Cup has commenced, with Mexico starting off strong in a victory against South Africa. Simon Jordan, a presenter from Talksport, has highlighted the massive influence of this tournament, not only globally but also in the United States. Soccer has now climbed to the third most popular sport in America, overtaking baseball and hockey.
Jordan expresses optimism about the event, expecting record-breaking ticket sales of 6.5 million, despite the challenges faced in previous World Cups. The excitement surrounding this tournament is palpable.
A survey conducted by The Lines among 3,000 American soccer fans sought to identify the most attractive fan base, team, player, and manager, as well as the most admired home kit. Christian Pulisic, recognized as an emerging talent from Hershey, Pennsylvania, was chosen as the most attractive player on the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT). The U.S. team’s kit also received high praise.
In terms of fan bases, Argentina was named the most attractive, edging out other nations. Brazil followed closely in second place, with the U.S. taking third position. Mexico and France ranked fourth and fifth respectively, showcasing a strong representation from Latin American fans. Croatia placed sixth.
The survey insights seem logical, unlike some controversial rankings that often aim to provoke reactions. Argentina’s fans have already secured one win with their appealing presence.
Besides the fans, Brazil’s team was admired for its attractiveness, and Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, was deemed the most eye-catching on the sidelines.
