Rob and Michele Reiner’s Son Seeks Trust Fund Access for Legal Defense

Nick Reiner, son of Rob and Michele Reiner, is requesting access to his trust fund, valued at over $1.5 million, to finance his defense in a double homicide case. At 32, Nick is charged with killing his parents and has entered a not guilty plea.

Nick’s attorneys have filed a petition in a Los Angeles court advocating for access to his trust. Established in 1993, the fund was supposed to start disbursing to him two years ago. The petition claims that despite clear instructions from his parents, access has been denied.

Nick loved his parents and is devastated by their deaths. But the facts about what did and did not happen are not at issue in this Trust litigation.

According to the petition, Nick’s trust is separate from the family’s main estate. Each of the Reiners’ children, including siblings Jake and Romy, has an independent trust meant for their benefit.

In December, Nick was arrested following the discovery of his parents’ bodies. Authorities said Rob Reiner, a celebrated director, and Michele Singer, a photographer and producer, were found stabbed in their Brentwood home.

The petition argues Nick is entitled to half of his trust at age 30 and the remainder at 35, stressing these distributions are mandatory. Despite this, he has not received any funds, hampering his defense efforts.

With his current representation being a public defender, Nick’s former attorney, Alan Jackson, opted out due to financial constraints. Nevertheless, Jackson expressed readiness to return if funds are secured.

As the case progresses, there’s mention of Nick’s schizophrenia medication adjustments before the incident, which may play a role in his defense.
