Will Levis Joins New York Jets, Aims to Revitalize NFL Career

Will Levis is making a comeback in the NFL, aiming to reboot his career with the New York Jets after a rocky stint with the Tennessee Titans. Levis, once a promising prospect, finds himself on the Jets’ practice squad according to reports, as the team releases Bailey Zappe to make room for him.

Aaron Glenn’s Jets are not replacing Geno Smith as their starter, but they lack backup depth. Rookie Cade Klubnik is in the mix, but Levis, with his experience, provides a valuable presence in the lineup.

Levis joined the NFL as a notable 2023 draft prospect, yet remained a bit of an enigma. The Titans chose him in the second round, No. 33 overall. An ankle injury sidelined Levis in his rookie year after a promising start with four touchdown passes against Atlanta.

Despite his potential, Levis’ second season was marred by turnovers, sacks, and inconsistency. He threw 13 touchdowns but also 12 interceptions, contributing to a 2–10 season start. A shoulder injury against Miami led to surgery, keeping him off the field in 2025. The Titans secured Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick in 2025, ending Levis’ time with the franchise.

At 27, Levis seeks development under Jets’ coaching. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich has a track record of grooming quarterbacks like Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. Quarterback coach Bill Musgrave, known for working with Matt Ryan and Derek Carr, also offers guidance. These resources provide Levis an opportunity to refine his skills.

While the Jets’ organization is known for its lack of stability, the coaching expertise can aid Levis as he works towards his potential. With age on his side and evident arm strength, Levis must now prove that his decision-making, health, and composure can align with his physical abilities.
