Vice President JD Vance Welcomes Fourth Child with Wife Usha

Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, recently celebrated the birth of their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance. The couple shared the joyful news on social media, expressing their excitement. They mentioned that both mother and baby are healthy, and their children Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel are thrilled to meet their new sibling.

Usha delivered the baby at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The Vances thanked the medical staff for their care and support during the delivery. JD and Usha have been married since 2014 and are now a family of six.

This event marks a historic moment as it’s the first time in over a century that a vice president has welcomed a child while in office. The last instance occurred 156 years ago with Vice President Schuyler Colfax Jr.

In his book “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” Vance shared that he had long wanted another child. Usha was initially hesitant, partly due to their high-profile public life. However, after the tragic death of their friend Charlie Kirk, Usha reconsidered. Erika Kirk’s reflections on family deeply touched Usha, influencing her decision to have another child.

In a “CBS Sunday Morning” interview, Usha acknowledged the impact of Erika Kirk’s words but clarified that the decision was part of ongoing discussions. She stated that the comments were powerful but not the sole factor in their decision.
