Federal prosecutors in Texas have filed charges against a Venezuelan delivery driver, Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, who was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent earlier this month. According to court documents revealed on Tuesday, Garces Perez faces accusations of assaulting a federal officer.
The charges allege that the 28-year-old struck an ICE officer with his vehicle while attempting to flee an arrest. The Department of Homeland Security has reported that Garces Perez is residing in the United States illegally, after an immigration judge ordered his deportation.
