Judge Tony Graf of Utah’s Fourth District Court is overseeing a hearing this week to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial against Tyler Robinson, accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk. This notable case marks one of Graf’s significant roles since his judicial appointment.

Previously, Graf served as a prosecutor in Davis County, north of Salt Lake City, and in Utah County, where Kirk was killed. He was appointed as a judge in August 2025 by Governor Spencer Cox. Cox highlighted Graf’s strong ethics and judgment upon his appointment.

Graf holds a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Utah, as well as a master’s degree in criminal justice from Weber State University. Since joining the bench, he has tackled challenging cases, including those involving child sexual abuse and threats against high-ranking officials like Governor Cox.

The current hearing for Mr. Kirk’s case, which began on Monday, will determine the next steps in this closely followed case.
