U.S. State Department Updates Israel Travel Advisory

The U.S. State Department has issued an updated travel advisory for Israel. Family members of U.S. government employees are now permitted to travel to the country.

On August 26, the State Department renewed its Level 3 advisory, urging Americans to reconsider travel due to ongoing terrorism and unrest. The update, also dated August 26, specifies that family members may accompany U.S. government employees stationed in Israel.

The advisory highlights a heightened risk in certain parts of Israel due to regional instability. U.S. government employees are restricted from traveling north of Route 85 to Route 90 (south) to Route 87, areas within seven miles of the Gaza Strip, and within 1.5 miles of the Israel-Egypt border, with the exception of the Taba border crossing area.

“Any official travel of U.S. government personnel within these areas requires approval from the U.S. embassy’s security office,” the advisory notes.

This situation remains fluid. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
