U.S. Mint Releases $1 Coins Featuring Donald Trump

The U.S. Mint will introduce gold-colored $1 coins bearing the image of President Donald Trump. These coins go on sale at noon ET on Wednesday, with prices set between $1.55 and $2.44 per coin.

First announced in July, the coins feature Trump’s likeness on one side, along with the words “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “1776 ~ 2026.” The reverse side showcases the presidential seal, including an eagle carrying an olive branch and arrows. The inscription “250” marks the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Pricing varies based on purchase quantity. A roll of 25 coins is available for $61, and a bag of 100 coins costs $154.50. The coins are set to commemorate the nation’s semiquincentennial anniversary.

The U.S. Mint describes the coins as legal tender and collectible items celebrating this significant milestone.

A 2020 law allows for new designs, explaining Trump’s appearance on the coins, despite usual regulations requiring currency figures to be deceased. According to the U.S. Mint, the Trump coins will serve as currency and collectibles.

These coins are made primarily from copper, containing 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel. They do not contain actual gold. Additionally, the U.S. Mint includes 250,000 special-issue $1 Trump coins with a “July 4th” mark randomly in the coin bags and rolls available for purchase.
