The United States has unveiled the roster for its 2026 women’s FIBA World Cup basketball team, featuring a star-studded lineup of WNBA talent. This team includes some of the league’s top players and promises to be a strong contender.

Among those selected are Aliyah Boston (Indiana Fever), Paige Bueckers (Dallas Wings), Caitlin Clark (Fever), Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Kahleah Copper (Mercury), Chelsea Gray (Las Vegas Aces), Rhyne Howard (Atlanta Dream), Kelsey Plum (Mercury), Angel Reese (Dream), Breanna Stewart (Liberty), A’ja Wilson (Aces), and Jackie Young (Aces).

Sue Bird, USA Basketball Women’s National Team managing director, remarked, “The makeup of the roster is straightforward. We’re aiming for a good mix of experience and youth, giving us a strong future lineup. The goal is to assemble a cohesive team capable of winning gold.”

Bird emphasized the importance of players who complement each other and fit the style employed by national team coach Kara Lawson, which is crucial for securing victory in international competitions.

However, the roster decision sparked discussion, particularly due to several notable omissions. Sabrina Ionescu from New York Liberty, Olivia Miles from Minnesota Lynx, and Alyssa Thomas from Phoenix Mercury were not included. Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell’s absence drew significant commentary on social media.
