Trump’s Speech at Pentagon for 25th Anniversary of 9/11

President Trump plans to deliver a speech at the Pentagon for the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks rather than visiting Ground Zero. When asked about his absence from New York City on September 11, Trump responded, ‘Because I’m going to the Pentagon.’

A White House representative informed NewsNation that Vice President Vance will visit New York City, and administration officials will be present at all three commemorative sites. The New York Times noted that Trump expressed interest in speaking at Ground Zero, but several factors, including a planned trip to his golf course in Ireland, influenced his decision to stay at the Pentagon. Since 2012, politicians have been restricted from speaking at Ground Zero.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated, ‘As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has reflected on witnessing the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On the 25th anniversary, the President will honor those killed by terrorists, support their families, and recognize the courageous first responders.’

This marks the second consecutive year Trump will commemorate the anniversary at the Defense Department. Trump and Vance participated in the Ground Zero ceremony in 2024 alongside then-President Biden and Vice President Harris.
