Trump’s Influence in New Hampshire GOP Primary

President Donald Trump secured a significant victory in New Hampshire with his endorsed candidate winning a crucial GOP primary. Businessman Anthony DiLorenzo defeated competitors Hollie Noveletsky and state Rep. Brian Cole to garner the Republican nomination for New Hampshire’s 1st U.S. House district.

The seat, currently held by Rep. Chris Pappas, a Democrat who is pursuing a U.S. Senate position, shows a slight Democratic tilt according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index with a D+2 rating. This suggests a potential shift depending on the Republican candidate’s efficacy in November.

New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District encompasses the southern part of the state, including Manchester, the most populous city. In 2022, former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt competed for this seat but lost to Pappas by less than 10%.

The GOP nomination race saw common ground on several issues among the candidates. However, DiLorenzo received criticism during a debate for his stance on illegal immigration. He highlighted targeting deportation efforts on felons and dangerous criminals while his opponents, Noveletsky and Cole, argued for stricter measures.

“Unlike Anthony, who is on record…saying that if somebody came here illegally and was working that they should have a path, I disagree,” Noveletsky said during the debate.

DiLorenzo clarified his position by emphasizing the deportation of dangerous individuals including criminals and drug traffickers.

Trump’s endorsement of DiLorenzo mid-year emphasized DiLorenzo’s commitment to America First policies such as job creation, tax reduction, and enhancing American energy independence. DiLorenzo also received support from key Republican figures like House Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Whip Tom Emmer.

Noveletsky acquired endorsements from New Hampshire state officials and House Rules Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx.
