Trevor Bauer Faces New Setbacks
Trevor Bauer, the former Cy Young Award winner, recently encountered another obstacle on his return journey to Major League Baseball. While driving his black McLaren in Phoenix, Arizona, Bauer was caught in a significant traffic collision. Despite the severity of the incident, Bauer thankfully emerged unharmed from the crash.
This accident is not Bauer’s first brush with a McLaren mishap. In 2019, a semi-truck tire unexpectedly flew off a highway, landing on his parked McLaren 650S, causing considerable damage. Bauer’s current crash report indicates he was traveling within the speed limit, and emergency services confirmed no one needed hospitalization.
Past Issues and Current Endeavors
Bauer has not pitched in the major leagues since 2021, when his career experienced a dramatic shift. He faced allegations of sexual assault, leading to extensive media scrutiny. Although no criminal charges were filed and Bauer maintained his innocence, Major League Baseball handed him an unprecedented 324-game suspension, later reduced to 194 games by an arbitrator.
Despite his talents, Bauer has struggled to find a place in Major League Baseball due to the perception of him being toxic to team front offices. Since his suspension, he has taken to the field in less spotlighted leagues. Bauer currently pitches for the Atlantic League’s Long Island Ducks, boasting a 4-1 record and a 2.43 ERA. Recently, he also appeared in the Mexican Baseball League with Diablos Rojos.
Aiming for a Comeback
Aside from these challenges, Bauer has been publicly advocating for a return to Major League Baseball. He has expressed willingness to join a team for the league minimum salary in pursuit of a second chance. Although his career took a challenging turn, his determination to return remains strong. Recently, he was in Arizona focusing on his health by rehabbing back spasms.
