Tragic Drowning Incident in Fort Lauderdale

Early Sunday morning, a man drowned in Fort Lauderdale. The incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on June 7, 2026. Fort Lauderdale police responded to a call about a potential drowning near the 200 block of Southwest Second Avenue.

According to witnesses, the man entered the water, prompting a search operation. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, along with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, assisted in locating the individual. Once found, he was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Homicide Unit of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
