Authorities reported that two women and a 9-year-old girl, who went missing while tubing on a Michigan river earlier this week, were found safe Friday afternoon. The Michigan State Police K9 team, along with state conservation officers, located them at 4:36 p.m. They were discovered nearly a mile from a boat launch along the Muskegon River.

The Michigan State Police expressed relief over the favorable outcome. However, the relationship between the two 28-year-old women and the child remains unclear. The official statement did not include details about their condition or the reasons behind their disappearance.

A police vehicle and a boat were positioned near the Muskegon River, where the group disappeared. The three were found roughly 11 miles from another boat launch where one woman’s car was located with a broken window, according to a police report released Wednesday. Her father discovered the vehicle and contacted authorities. By then, the group had been out of contact for more than 24 hours.

On Thursday, law enforcement reported finding two of their tubes and footprints. Approximately two dozen state police posts, law enforcement agencies, and other government departments participated in the search, which also included volunteers.
