Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, key figures of the New York Mets, have reportedly mended their previously rocky relationship. The Mets, once expected to dominate, have struggled in the league despite their high-profile roster.

Lindor joined the team in 2021 after a trade, securing a 10-year, $341 million extension. This was a significant move for new owner Steve Cohen, marking a change in the team’s direction. Soto entered the lineup four years later with a 15-year, $765 million deal, showing the team’s commitment to securing top talent.

Last year, media reports suggested tension between the two, which persisted into the current season. Speculation arose that Soto’s lucrative contract led to power dynamics. However, recent statements indicate improvement in their relationship.

Frankly, I think that’s a story that was last year’s story. I am told and believe strongly that these guys are getting along much better. And so, I just don’t see that as an issue anymore.”

Soto recently commented on their evolving relationship, using an analogy likening it to a new romantic relationship, “When you meet a girl, you don’t start kissing her right away,” he said, according to The Athletic. He emphasized that there are no ongoing issues.

Lindor added that their mutual respect has only grown with time. “The more time we spend together, it’s only natural that our relationship continues to grow,” he remarked.

Reports mentioned that their lockers were relocated within the clubhouse, and their interactions on Opening Day were scrutinized by fans. Yet, both deny major conflicts.

Lindor commented on their conversations, stating, “We talked. We talk every single day, whether it’s hitting or different topics. But we definitely talk because, at the end of the day, we are teammates and our job is to win games.”

Injuries have limited their games together this season, with only 15 played, but they are under contract with the Mets through 2032.
