Hundreds of teenagers riding e-bikes created chaos in a busy area of downtown Orlando, Florida. This disruptive event led law enforcement to press several charges, according to police reports.
Incident Overview
Earlier this month, the Orlando Police Department reported a large group of teen riders posing both a significant safety risk and causing traffic disruptions for residents. Police shared a video on social media showcasing the teens blocking cars at intersections and an ambulance with activated flashing lights.
Reckless riding, running red lights, blocking traffic, and blocking an ambulance and other emergency vehicles from responding puts everyone at risk, including the riders themselves.
The video showed officers apprehending some of the riders. Bodycam and surveillance footage were utilized during the operation. Police emphasized that such hazardous conduct would not be tolerated.
Policing and Enforcement
In a statement to FOX 35 Orlando, the police department acknowledged the challenge in apprehending each rider due to the group’s size and mobility. However, enforcement actions were taken whenever feasible and safe.
The incident also included a scene where one e-biker executed a stunt in an intersection directly in front of an ambulance. While the total number of teens charged remains unclear, law enforcement continues to gather information.
