Attendees and activists at the recent March on Washington voiced their support for systemic political change. Fox News Digital spoke with various participants, who advocated for reforms and the introduction of socialist policies in their communities. This movement coincides with victories of DSA-backed candidates in primaries leading up to the midterms.
One attendee, Sravya from Washington, D.C., emphasized the need to abolish and rewrite the Constitution to include marginalized voices. She also supported reconstructing the Senate, pointing out the need for reform due to longstanding leadership.
Organized by Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, the ‘March on Washington 2026: Defend the Vote’ was held at the Lincoln Memorial on the 63rd anniversary of the 1963 march. Prominent leaders such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders rallied attendees around voting and civil rights.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have introduced a platform to abolish the U.S. Senate, aiming to transform America fundamentally. Attendees voiced their support for this goal and the broader push for systemic change. They backed policies related to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Some attendees, like Darius from Maryland, advocated for dismantling colonial structures that oppress marginalized people. Others, like Kassandra from Michigan, supported Mamdani’s agenda, aiming to replicate his policies in their hometowns. Kassandra, who has volunteered for Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, stressed the need for universal health care and the removal of money from politics.
Esteban, a New Jersey resident working in New York City, has noticed significant changes since Mamdani’s tenure began. He noted that these changes are rapid and positive compared to previous mayoral terms.
Fox News Digital’s Ashley J. DiMella contributed reporting on political perspectives at the march.
