Straus Family Creamery Recalls Organic Ice Cream Due to Metal Fragment Concerns

Straus Family Creamery has announced a voluntary recall of various organic ice cream flavors and sizes across 17 states, following concerns about potential metal fragments in the products. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) disclosed this information on Friday, emphasizing that no injuries have been reported.

The recall includes ice cream sold in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. The affected items were made available on shelves from May 4, as per the FDA’s communication.

The recalled products are identified by their best-by dates located on the bottom of the containers:

  • Vanilla bean pints with best-by dates of Dec. 23 and 28, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10030-6.
  • Strawberry pints with a best-by date of Dec. 25, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10095-5.
  • Strawberry quarts with a best-by date of Dec. 24, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10097-9.
  • Cookie dough pints with a best-by date of Dec. 26, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10104-4.
  • Dutch chocolate quarts with a best-by date of Dec. 27, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10012-2.
  • Mint chip quarts with a best-by date of Dec. 30, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10050-4.

Straus Family Creamery is collaborating with retailers to ensure the affected products are removed from store shelves. Consumers who possess these products are advised to dispose of them. Although Straus Family Creamery will not provide refunds, it will offer vouchers to customers for the purchase of new cartons. Voucher details can be found on the company’s website.
