Shooting at Massive Party in California Leaves One Dead, Six Injured

A tragic shooting occurred at a large gathering in rural Morgan Hill, California on Saturday night, resulting in one death and six injuries. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident happened shortly after 10 p.m., roughly 25 miles south of San Jose.

The party, which attracted over 300 participants, was unsanctioned and promoted through social media platforms. Authorities initially responded to reports of intoxicated individuals on the road and bottle throwing at vehicles, arriving to find a chaotic scene following an outbreak of gunfire.

Deputies provided emergency first aid at the site, but one person was pronounced dead before medical teams arrived. Several others with gunshot wounds were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Preliminary findings suggest the suspect used a handgun, yet no one has been taken into custody. Homicide detectives believe the shooting was an isolated case, anticipating a ‘lengthy and complex’ investigation.

“This tragic and senseless violence is entirely unacceptable,” expressed Santa Clara County Sheriff Robert Jonsen. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family, those recovering from their injuries, and everyone in our community affected by this traumatic event.”

Authorities assured the public of their commitment to diligent efforts in identifying and bringing those accountable to justice. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Morgan Hill Police Department, Gilroy Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and San Jose Police Department, responded to the scene.
