London: Serena Williams marked her return to professional tennis with a victory at Queen’s Club after nearly four years of absence. On Tuesday, the 44-year-old legend demonstrated her enduring power and skill, delivering service winners at speeds reaching 120 mph.
Williams, in partnership with Victoria Mboko, a 19-year-old from Canada, claimed their opening doubles match in the grass-court tournament. The duo succeeded against the third-seeded pair, Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe, with scores of 7-6 (2), 6-2.
This match marked Williams’ first professional appearance since the 2022 U.S. Open. She closed the match with precision, executing two aces and a service winner.
Recently, Williams announced her return to doubles, although her plans for singles remain undecided.
