Rookie quarterback Haynes King delivered an impressive performance in the NFL preseason, leading the Carolina Panthers to a 33-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game. King’s decisive play came on the last play, where he scored from 5 yards out. He finished with 180 passing yards and two touchdowns, also adding 39 rushing yards.

On the Arizona side, rookie Carson Beck made a promising debut. He concluded his night with 188 passing yards and one touchdown. Arizona briefly reclaimed the lead when quarterback Kedon Slovis connected with Bryson Green for a 1-yard touchdown, putting the Cardinals ahead 30-27 with under two minutes left.

King showed resilience by leading a comeback for the Panthers, supported by Bryce Young from the sidelines. In the fourth quarter’s opening minute, King threw a 4-yard touchdown to Anthony Tyus III, putting the Panthers ahead 24-20. Earlier, King had also thrown a touchdown pass to Ja’Seem Reed in the second quarter.

The game featured strong performances from non-starters as both teams chose to rest their main players. Beck, selected in the third round from Miami, displayed skills that could boost Arizona’s confidence moving forward.

Notably, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 included notable inductees such as Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Adam Vinatieri, Larry Fitzgerald, and Luke Kuechly.
