Actor Robert De Niro made an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ where he humorously engaged with the host using a baseball bat and with jesting physical gestures as he pretended to be FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.
During the show, Jimmy Kimmel reflected on their previous encounter in Brooklyn, noting that they were returning to television following a week-long FCC-related hiatus. He admitted that the situation with the FCC had not improved.
De Niro jokingly confronted Kimmel about the alleged FCC threats. He questioned, “You’re being threatened by the FCC? Who is threatening you? Am I threatening you? Do you feel threatened by me?”
The atmosphere turned satirical as De Niro launched into a series of insults aimed at President Donald Trump while questioning Kimmel’s past remarks. This led to a direct exchange where Kimmel queried the intention behind De Niro’s antics. Responding sharply, De Niro said, “You speak when I tell you to speak, and otherwise you shut up.”
De Niro also mentioned a comment Kimmel had allegedly made about Trump, prompting Kimmel’s comment on its humor. De Niro’s retort, “You’re doing it again,” maintained the comedic intensity of the segment.
The interaction drew a response from White House spokesman Davis Ingle, who criticized De Niro, describing him as irrelevant and accusing him of inciting hatred and violence. Ingle also targeted Kimmel, deprecating his talent and ratings.
Kimmel’s show coincided with its significant milestone, marking the 4,000th episode. Despite criticism from the White House, he celebrated the longevity of his show by addressing past attempts to curtail it, emphasizing their perseverance.
Radio host Howard Stern also weighed in, expressing his support for Kimmel and cautioning ABC regarding their treatment of Kimmel.
