Prince Harry and Meghan Return to the UK

Return to the UK

Prince Harry and Meghan are set to return to the United Kingdom. Reports indicate they will fly privately from California with their two children. A spokesperson for the couple declined to comment, and their representatives did not respond to a CBS News inquiry about the travel plans.

The news of their return comes after six years in California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will remain non-working members of the royal family. They have no intention to resume royal duties and will live in the Cotswolds, about two hours west of London.

Their Decision to Step Away

In January 2020, Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping away from senior royal roles to seek financial independence. Their decision was meant to balance royal tradition with personal growth, including launching a new charitable entity. This move involved significant tension within the royal family.

Harry and Meghan have two children, Archie, born in 2019, and Lilibet, born in 2021. They are preparing to attend a new school, according to recent reports.

Security and Legal Challenges

In 2024, Prince Harry lost a legal challenge regarding the downgrade of his security detail during UK visits due to his departure from royal duties. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham expressed that future security arrangements are private matters for the Sussexes, extending well wishes to the family.

Recently, Prince Harry and other claimants were ordered to pay substantial damages to the Daily Mail’s publisher after their claims were found highly unreasonable by a court.
