At the last moment before an impending closure, the Primm family in Nevada has secured a partnership with Terrible’s, a Las Vegas-based company, to operate their hotel-casino properties in Primm, Nevada. Cory Clemetson, grandson of Primm’s founder and president of the Primm South Real Estate Company, expressed satisfaction over this agreement, highlighting the compatibility and shared vision of their new partner.

Tim Herbst, president of Terrible’s, acknowledged Primm as a significant destination in Nevada, underlining their commitment to preserving its legacy while exploring growth and investment opportunities. The partnership aims to safeguard Primm’s future, ensuring it remains a tourist draw.

The last operating casino hotel in Primm, the Primm Valley Resort & Casino, was on the verge of closure, risking 344 jobs. The closure notice came from Affinity Interactive, backed by New York’s Z Capital, which had managed these properties for nearly 15 years. Butera, the CEO of Affinity Interactive, blamed ongoing losses and failed investments for the shutdown decision.

If my grandfather were alive, he would be outraged at the prospect of over 300 jobs being lost on July 4, a day of celebration, especially in the intense heat, Clemetson shared, reflecting on his grandfather’s potential reaction.

Clemetson stressed the intention to depart responsibly from old operations and transition thoughtfully for the employees dedicated to Primm. The family hopes the new partnership will provide stability and new opportunities.

Since the 1970s, Primm attracted travelers seeking a budget-friendly alternative to Las Vegas. The area flourished when it offered attractions like an operational roller coaster. Recent years saw closures starting December 2024, with Whiskey Pete’s and Buffalo Bill’s reducing operations.

Expressing optimism, Clemetson reminisced about past successes, anticipating potential boosts from the planned Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport near Primm. This development, starting in 2029, promises to enhance accessibility.

The Herbst family, behind Terrible’s, holds interests in gaming, hospitality, and retail, which may complement future plans for Primm. These plans might involve property upgrades, improved amenities, and food services.

Clemetson remains hopeful for the future, determined to preserve his family’s legacy and return Primm to a vibrant state.
