President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States on September 24. The upcoming talks are expected to focus heavily on artificial intelligence (AI).

The announcement came during Trump’s remarks at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where he discussed efforts to build more AI data centers. “President Xi is coming over on September 24th,” Trump stated. He noted prior discussions held in Beijing and indicated AI will remain a key topic.

Trump emphasized the significance of AI, labeling it as “probably the biggest thing anybody’s ever seen.” He stressed the need for the United States to remain ahead of China in the AI technology race, asserting that dominance in AI will likely determine broader global leadership.

During Trump’s earlier visit to Beijing, he extended an invitation to President Xi to visit the White House. The last in-person meeting between the two leaders happened then.

Prior discussions between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi aimed to create a positive environment for the upcoming visit. According to Reuters, Rubio described the preparations as paving the way for a “very positive visit.” The White House has not yet provided comments regarding the visit.
