Authorities are looking into the death of a man who attended the Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach on July 26. The man, identified as David Granado Jr., was rushed to a hospital and died days later from a brain injury.

According to a GoFundMe organized by Granado’s family, he went to the popular punk festival with his girlfriend, brother, and friends. He suffered a “traumatic and ultimately fatal brain injury” during the event.

The family is attempting to understand the events leading to Granado’s hospitalization. A preliminary investigation by Long Beach police found no evidence of foul play, though further inquiries are ongoing.

Representatives for the Vans Warped Tour have not responded to requests for information. Likewise, the Los Angeles County medical examiner has not commented on the incident.

In a statement, the Long Beach Police Department reported that on July 29, 2026, they were notified of a critically ill individual at a local hospital. The person had attended the Vans Warped Tour and was taken to the hospital by a private medical service. By July 31, detectives learned of the individual’s death.

The police indicated that the county medical examiner would establish the cause of death. The department is investigating to ascertain if any criminal activity occurred.

The Warped Tour, a notable event in the punk, ska, and rock music scene, returned for its 30th anniversary after a hiatus. It is set to visit Montreal, Mexico City, Orlando, Washington, D.C., and Long Beach again next year.
