The propeller of the motor plane severely damaged the paraglider, prompting the experienced paraglider to deploy her reserve parachute.
The impact forced the paraglider to deploy her emergency parachute. She executed an emergency landing and was later airlifted by a police helicopter. Police said both she and the pilot avoided serious injuries.
Sabrina, a woman who posted about the event on Instagram, shared video footage of the collision. NBC News reached out to her for a comment, but she had not replied by Sunday.
The video captures serene views of the Alpine ridgeline until the sound of an engine approaches. A small white aircraft enters the frame abruptly, slicing through the canopy just overhead.
While spiraling, she calmly reaches for the handle of her emergency parachute, which deploys successfully. Her rapid descent slows, offering her some control. Although her face is not in view, muffled exclamations can be heard over the wind. The remnants of her damaged glider trail in two sections, still attached to her harness.
She manages to free her feet from the harness during her swift descent, narrowly avoiding a shrub before landing on a grassy patch.
The video concludes with her removing her gear and catching her breath following the ordeal. She later wrote that she still finds it unbelievable that she survived the event, mentioning she walked away with only bruises.
