Former NFL player Dez Bryant has commented on the controversy surrounding New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, who introduced President Donald Trump at a recent event. Dart faced backlash, notably from his teammate Abdul Carter, who openly criticized the move.

Bryant, an All-Pro wide receiver who spent most of his nine-year career with the Dallas Cowboys, expressed confusion over the criticism Dart received. On social media, Bryant stated, “I really don’t understand the hate Jaxon Dart got for introducing President Trump. Good or bad…if you support Trump or not…you’re in a lose-lose situation.” He added, “Politics and religion are difficult for sports. Folks have the right to believe in whatever they want.”

The Giants aimed to show unity amid the controversy, with Dart, Carter, head coach John Harbaugh, and backup quarterback Jameis Winston addressing the issue. Dart and Carter even shared an embrace at a team event. The team emphasized there was no animosity in the locker room, although Dart and Carter maintained their stances.

Carter explained to reporters, “Some things are bigger than football. Jaxson is one of our leaders. If he aligns with someone like President Trump, it’s my responsibility, based on what I believe, to show I’m against that.”

Dart clarified his reasons for introducing Trump, saying, “This was a unique opportunity. I’ve always loved this country. My family has served in the military. The President’s position is one I’ve always respected, regardless of political affiliation.”

Carter noted that his disagreement with Dart did not affect their personal relationship. “It doesn’t mean that me and Jaxson hate each other,” he said, highlighting their daily interactions and mutual respect.

Winston, a veteran presence on the team, expressed pride in both players for communicating with each other and reporters. He remarked, “I’m proud of our team for understanding that we don’t have to pick a side in this.”

Head coach Harbaugh supported Winston’s sentiments, stating, “We’re in a good place now, and we’re moving forward.” The Giants are focused on maintaining team cohesion and moving past the controversy.
