A mother captured a distressing road rage incident on video while driving on a North Carolina interstate. The situation unfolded with her 3-year-old son in the back seat, reportedly crying as the events escalated around them.
Myeka Dunn shared with FOX8 WGHP that she was on her way to her mother’s house with her son when a dark blue sedan suddenly swerved into her lane at about 4:30 p.m. on a Friday. She honked her horn, which reportedly aggravated the other driver, resulting in an increasingly dangerous scenario.
According to Dunn, the driver attempted to cut her off and repeatedly brake-checked her while shouting threats. Dunn described the frightening moment, “They almost hit me, so that’s when I honked my horn at them.”
Dunn decided to record the encounter as the driver followed her on the highway. In the video shared online, the driver can be seen leaning out of his vehicle, yelling threats like, “You are going to die!” as her young child could be heard crying in the background.
In her account to the press, Dunn stated that even though her car windows were cracked, the aggressive driver seemed to notice her child in the vehicle and ignored the child’s presence. Dunn reported the incident by contacting 911 and the Guilford Metro non-emergency line, but she expressed disappointment over the response she received.
Christine Moore, Deputy Director of Operations, acknowledged the procedural failure by the dispatcher. Moore explained that while a ‘be on the lookout’ alert (BOLO) was issued, crucial details, such as the video evidence, were not included in the report.
The Greensboro Police Department stated that officers were alerted to reports of a dark blue sedan erratically maneuvering through traffic and yelling threats. Investigators have since identified the driver but have not made an arrest.
Dunn was informed about the procedure to obtain a misdemeanor warrant due to the incident occurring without police presence. She is reportedly moving forward with the process at the Magistrate’s Office.
