City officials in Long Beach and the City of Industry warned residents about potential noise from military training exercises on Thursday night. The activities included helicopters, controlled explosions, and simulated weapons fire, continuing until 2 a.m. in some areas.
The training is part of routine military drills conducted across the U.S. Long Beach officials emphasized operational safety prevented them from disclosing details about the training’s specifics. Residents were advised that it is not open to the public or media.
Similar warnings were issued in Irvine and Pasadena, where exercises occurred on Wednesday. Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian noted the importance of informing the public through various platforms to avoid alarm, especially amid heightened sensitivities during election week.
The exercises in Pasadena happened at the old St. Luke Hospital building. Despite efforts to inform, some residents expressed concern about the noises and the secrecy surrounding the exercises.
