Two Mercedes AMG drivers have filed a class-action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz. The lawsuit claims that the metallic AMG logo on their car seats causes burns.

Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep “Karina” Bath argue that a design flaw in certain Mercedes AMG models leads the raised metallic logo to come into contact with the upper back, neck, or shoulder of drivers. This is according to documents filed in the U.S. District Court of California’s Western division.

The plaintiffs seek compensation from Mercedes for medical expenses, pain, suffering, and emotional distress. They also want Mercedes to remove the logos from other owners’ vehicles.

Gabriel Lahijani, a resident of Los Angeles, leased a 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class. He reported suffering second-degree burns on May 31 while wearing a tank top. A dermatologist confirmed the burns, noting they mirrored the AMG logo.

In another case, Karina Bath from Chatsworth, California, encountered a similar situation. After entering her parked vehicle while wearing a sleeveless top, she felt a burning sensation when her shoulder touched the logo. A thermal contact burn shaped like the AMG logo appeared on her skin shortly afterward.

Recently, Mercedes-Benz USA and its parent company, Daimler AG, agreed to a $149.6 million settlement over emissions allegations. The coalition of attorneys general revealed that the company installed devices in over 211,000 vehicles between 2008 and 2016. These devices optimized emissions during tests but reduced controls during standard use.
