During an address in Las Vegas, Trump shared details of his wife’s critiques, particularly of his rally dance moves and mimicking weightlifters in speeches about transgender athletes. She views these as unpresidential.

Trump mentioned, “She hates when I imitate no men in women’s sports,” referring to his impersonation of a weightlifter. He added, “She said it’s not presidential,” but defended his actions by highlighting his electoral success.

This is not new information. Trump previously noted Melania’s distaste for certain aspects of his onstage presence, describing her as “a very classy person.”

Trump Shares Melania’s Dislike for His Dancing

Trump’s dancing, especially to the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.,” has become a hallmark of his rallies. However, Melania feels it does not align with presidential decorum. Earlier this year, Trump recounted a conversation where Melania compared him to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, questioning if Roosevelt would dance publicly.

In January, during an address to Republican lawmakers, Trump said, “She hates when I dance,” highlighting that Melania asked, “Can you imagine FDR dancing?” Trump often shares these stories, acknowledging that despite Melania’s objections, his supporters enjoy his performances.

Melania’s Critique of Trump’s Weightlifting Impression

Another point of contention for Melania is Trump’s hand gestures while discussing transgender athletes in women’s sports. He often mimics a weightlifter, which Melania has deemed unsuitable for a president. Trump shared this feedback, stating, “Darling, please, the weightlifting is terrible.” He responded by citing his presidential win.

On multiple occasions, Trump has described similar interactions where Melania critiques his public presence, including comments on his on-camera appearance by saying, “You didn’t look good, too much light.”

Trump’s Rally Style as a Political Signature

Despite Melania’s criticisms, Trump’s dancing and gestures have become central elements of his political rallies, and supporters repeatedly encourage these performances. Melania typically keeps a low public profile, but Trump frequently highlights her role in advising on his image. He continues with these rally traditions, valuing supporter engagement.
