Recently, Meghan Markle shared photos via Instagram of her children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, enjoying themselves at the childhood home of the late Princess Diana. This action has led some experts to criticize Markle’s choice, labeling it as “tasteless.”
During the family’s recent visit to the UK, Markle posted about their trip, captioning an image “Summer Holiday”. The photo depicts Prince Harry walking with his children on a grassy path, presumably at Althorp, the Spencer family’s ancestral estate. In the image, both Archie and Harry appear to be holding bouquets, which suggests they might have visited Diana’s burial site located in a secluded island within the estate.
A royal expert has suggested that Prince William, Harry’s older brother, is likely “livid” at the public sharing of these photos.
Hilary Fordwich, an expert on British royals, explained to Fox News Digital that Prince William would be angered by what she describes as a “commercialization” of the Althorp estate. This anger could impede any significant comeback for Harry within royal circles.
Fordwich stated, “Not only is Prince William likely to be livid regarding such commercialization of Althorp in such a tacky tasteless media post, it’ll fuel his disgust so he shall thwart any major re-entry,” suggesting resistance from various palace aides and courtiers dedicated to safeguarding the monarchy.
Another expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, noted that the Spencer family must have permitted Harry and Meghan to visit Althorp, making her post permissible. Fitzwilliams remarked on the notable silence maintained by Harry and Meghan after meeting King Charles and Queen Camilla. He emphasized that future encounters would be unlikely if the couple had communicated any details to the media.

British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard commented on Markle’s decision to share private family moments publicly, calling it “predictable.” Chard suggested that Markle’s actions attempt to connect her family to royal history without utilizing titles. She remarked that the public appreciates privacy, but the crown must remain a priority.
Reports indicate that Harry and Meghan reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla during their UK trip. Fordwich pointed out that despite familial contact, Prince William’s position means the couple won’t assume significant royal roles again anytime soon.
Fordwich stated, “The entire family is most wary of the institutional risk H & MM are likely to cause at any given moment via leaks to the media. MM sharing photos which appear to be taken at Althorp of her children is a ghastly exploitative move & precisely why the couple aren’t trusted.”
Fordwich further criticized Markle’s move, claiming it was “predictably provocative & tasteless”, given the private and symbolic nature of Princess Diana’s resting place at her ancestral home, Althorp.
Chard also expressed skepticism about Harry being allowed back into the “royal arena.” She emphasized that a family reunion doesn’t equate to reinstating royal duties. According to her, a genuine apology to the King and the country remains necessary for any forward movement.
