A mass shooting at Virginia State University has resulted in multiple injuries, leading to a temporary lockdown of the campus.
Law enforcement officials responded to the incident at 1:30 a.m. on the 3300 block of Boisseau Street. Officers discovered five individuals with gunshot wounds near the university dormitories.
On Saturday, university officials confirmed that the injured were transported to local hospitals. One victim is in critical condition, whereas four others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident involved multiple suspects, according to the university. The initial lockdown of the campus has been lifted, though university officials mentioned, “a significant law enforcement presence remains on campus as the investigation into this morning’s shooting continues.”
