MAGA, Inc. Invests $10 Million in Texas Senate Race

MAGA, Inc., the political action committee associated with President Donald Trump, has committed $10 million in advertising to back Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his Senate campaign. This information comes from a recent Federal Election Commission filing.

Paxton is facing a close contest with Democratic state Representative James Talarico. Polls repeatedly indicate a tight race between the two candidates. The funds will cover digital and television advertisements throughout Texas.

Race Dynamics

Earlier this year, Trump’s endorsement helped Paxton defeat incumbent Senator John Cornyn in the Republican primary. Paxton expressed gratitude for Trump’s support in a social media post while promoting the ad purchase. “Together we will win for Texas and America,” he stated.

On the other side, Talarico’s campaign addressed the substantial expenditure by criticizing billionaire-funded groups for their involvement. Talarico declared, “Billionaire-backed dark money groups are lying about James Talarico because they’re scared of the people-powered movement we’re building to fix this broken, corrupt political system.”

Campaign Fundraising and Strategy

Talarico, advocating for increased taxes on wealthier individuals, condemned the upcoming Republican midterm convention. He depicted it as a gathering for elite donors and politicians focused on self-interest rather than public welfare. “Next week, billionaire mega-donors and their puppet politicians will gather at a convention in Dallas to clink champagne glasses and toast their own corruption,” Talarico remarked.

MAGA Inc.’s spokesperson, Alex Pfeiffer, criticized Talarico for his taxation policies. Pfeiffer stressed the PAC’s intention to inform Texans about Talarico’s policies, referring to him as “High Tax Talarico.”

Financial Comparison

Since initiating their campaigns, Talarico has raised $72 million, predominantly from small contributors, compared to Paxton’s $16.8 million, as reported by the Texas Tribune.

The anti-Talarico advertisements target Talarico’s policies concerning taxation and rural healthcare. Conversely, they promote Paxton’s proposals, including a doubled child tax credit, tax deductions for medical expenses, and a significant deduction for first-time homebuyers.

MAGA, Inc. holds approximately $400 million in campaign resources. Trump has expressed his readiness to allocate substantial funds to support the campaign efforts.
