LSU’s Strategic Moves Boost Recruiting Efforts

About a week and a half ago, LSU made a strategic decision by adding former head coach Ed Orgeron to Lane Kiffin’s coaching staff. Many believed this move would strengthen LSU’s recruiting efforts, but few anticipated the swift impact Orgeron would make upon his return to Baton Rouge.

Recently, Orgeron helped secure an in-person and official visit from Jalen Brewster, the nation’s top-ranked recruit and five-star defensive tackle. Previously, the competition for Brewster’s commitment was mainly between Texas Tech, his current choice, and the Florida Gators.

In less than two weeks, Orgeron positioned LSU as a leading contender for Brewster’s commitment. New videos from Brewster’s visit to Louisiana suggest a positive relationship forming between Brewster and Orgeron, much to the concern of Texas Tech fans.

Moreover, LSU is also targeting Easton Royal, a five-star wide receiver and current Texas Longhorns commit. Royal’s close ties with New Orleans and the presence of Orgeron add to the possibility of a flip to LSU, especially given his perceived wavering commitment to Texas.

Having two top-tier recruits, Brewster and Royal, visit during the same weekend could be highly beneficial for LSU’s 2027 recruiting class. Currently, LSU has five blue-chip commits, including two five-star recruits.

Adding Brewster and Royal could place LSU among the top five recruiting classes nationally, fulfilling what SEC fans feared with Kiffin’s leadership. The Orgeron hire has proven pivotal in enhancing LSU’s recruiting prowess, challenging other teams across the country.
