LongHorn Steakhouse Faces Scrutiny Over Kitchen Conditions

A LongHorn Steakhouse in East Point, Georgia, has come under scrutiny after videos surfaced online showing unsanitary conditions in the kitchen. The footage, recorded by former employee Sean Headley, depicts cockroaches and food waste in the kitchen area.

Headley began working at the Camp Creek Parkway location in April. He claims he decided to document the conditions after management and corporate offices failed to address his concerns. According to Headley, the kitchen environment had become unsafe.

The work environment and conditions were inhumane, Headley shared with FOX 5 Atlanta.

The videos Headley recorded show cockroaches crawling on the floor and food waste scattered around the kitchen. Frustrated with the lack of response from management, he decided to share the videos on social media.

LongHorn Steakhouse responded by stating, The conditions shown are unacceptable and have been addressed. We are committed to ensuring a safe experience for both guests and team members, and a new leader has been placed in the restaurant to uphold our standards.

Following the viral spread of the videos, Fulton County health officials plan to revisit the restaurant. The Georgia Department of Public Health had last inspected the restaurant on August 25, giving it a score of 90, which is an ‘A.’ Health inspection records for the last two years show scores ranging from 88 to 91.

The videos sparked discussions online, with many criticizing the kitchen conditions. Some users expressed disbelief at how the restaurant passed previous health inspections. Others urged restaurant workers to report sanitation concerns rather than ignore them.

Headley hopes the incident will prompt not just local changes but better workplace conditions and more frequent health inspections across all Darden Restaurants establishments, including addressing issues like broken air conditioning.
