On Friday, LeBron James concluded his highly-anticipated free agency journey by announcing his decision to play for the Philadelphia 76ers. James becomes part of a franchise renowned for its illustrious NBA history, featuring legendary players such as Allen Iverson.

On Tuesday, Allen Iverson appeared on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” to express his enthusiasm about James’ arrival in Philadelphia. Iverson, who spent 12 seasons with the team, described his feelings as “ecstatic.”

“Just ecstatic, man. You know I’m just happy for the city of Philadelphia,” Iverson stated. “For the team, you know what I mean? The type of player he is, the type of person he is. I’m just happy, man. He brings a lot, you know what I mean? He really is the answer.”

This move comes after James completed his eighth and last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. At 41, the NBA icon opted for the 76ers instead of returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, or joining the Golden State Warriors.

James agreed to a two-year contract worth $8 million, adhering to a veteran-minimum salary structure. He now embarks on his remarkable 24th NBA season with a talented roster that includes Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.

Iverson also emphasized the high expectations for the 76ers now that James is part of the team. “It’s championship or bust,” Iverson remarked.

“He just boosts the percentage of any team having a chance to win a championship,” Iverson added. “He’s one of them ones, man. You know what I mean? He’s The King for a reason.”
