Late Night Comedy Highlights Trump’s Walkout

The latest episode of Late Night Roundup captured some noteworthy moments from the previous night’s comedy shows. Comedians weighed in on President Trump’s exit from a recent NBC interview.

Trump’s Interview Walkout

During Meet the Press on Sunday, President Trump left an interview with host Kristen Welker. Welker had challenged his claims about the alleged rigging of the 2020 presidential election and a vote in California. This scene drew commentary from late-night hosts.

Jon Stewart referred to the interview as Trump’s “worst nightmare,” noting that it was a situation where “a woman won’t stop asking pertinent questions.” Stewart humorously described the incident as the reaction of “an incredibly fragile man-baby.”

“Now, you could view this as the hissy-fit of an incredibly fragile man-baby, whose paper-thin skin can’t handle venturing out of the sycophantic embrace of his tongue-bathing acolytes.” — Jon Stewart

Seth Meyers poked fun, saying, “Though I’m not sure you can call this a storm. That’s more like a slow-moving fog bank.” Jim Kimmel added his take by jesting, “This is why he mostly dated women who don’t speak English.”

“I guess he doesn’t like it when the questions are a little harder than, ‘Is this a camel?’” — Seth Meyers

Meyers also humorously cited Trump’s apparent discomfort, “Wow, usually he only says that to his wives,” after Trump told Welker, “Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough.”

Jokes about the Knicks Game

The comedians then shifted to discuss Trump’s presence at the N.B.A. Finals Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.

Seth Meyers joked about the scrutiny at the event, hinting at the behavior of New York sports fans, “Oh, sure. If there’s one thing New York sports fans are known for it’s their patience and civility.” Jimmy Kimmel noted Trump’s ability to attend the game despite missing his son’s wedding due to presidential duties.

“Many New York celebrities were in attendance tonight, including our president who was too busy with the war to go to his son’s wedding, but had no problem carving out time to swallow nachos at the Knicks game tonight.” — Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Fallon joined in with his quip, “Trump was going to sit courtside, but officials were afraid the players would start dribbling his head.” He humorously imagined Trump arriving with Marco Rubio, “Honestly, it was kind of adorable seeing Trump there with Marco Rubio sitting on top of his shoulders.”
