LA Knight is set for arguably his best opportunity to capture a WWE championship. He will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank in New Orleans. Knight’s popularity has surged in recent years, becoming a fan favorite in WWE.
The wrestler’s journey has seen him navigate a U.S. title run and face-off against Reigns’ stable, the Bloodline. His momentum remains strong, continuing to attract fans who support him.
Knight first aimed for a world title at Crown Jewel in 2023, facing Reigns before an interference from Jimmy Uso cost him the victory. He later participated in a fatal four-way for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Royal Rumble in 2024 alongside AJ Styles and Randy Orton. Once again, Reigns emerged victorious.
On this occasion, Knight could have a fair one-on-one match against Reigns. The Bloodline is engaged with Jacob Fatu’s dominance and the 946 faction, potentially leaving Reigns without his usual allies.
Diamond Dallas Page, WWE Hall of Famer, expressed support for Knight during the event. In an interview with OutKick Dropkick, Page stated, “I would love to see LA Knight win. Our careers took off in our 40s, and seeing him succeed would be amazing.”
Page believes a loss wouldn’t diminish Reign’s status. He compared the situation to his own victory over Randy Savage at World Championship Wrestling’s Spring Stampede in 1997, where Savage helped elevate him in the wrestling world.
Page shared, “Fans embraced me differently after defeating Savage; it was more impactful than winning a championship. That’s what Roman would accomplish if Knight wins.”
He revealed having discussions with Knight about reaching the heights of professional wrestling. Similar conversations occurred with Cody Rhodes during his pursuit of Reign’s championship.
Rhodes initially failed to claim the title at WrestleMania 39 but returned at WrestleMania 40 to achieve victory. Page noted, “Knight could lose yet still garner support, similar to Cody’s journey.”
Even with a potential loss, Page believes Knight’s career will remain unaffected due to his strong connection with fans.
He emphasized, “Knight’s popularity is a testament to his hard work. Professional wrestling dreams are challenging, and his fan support indicates uncertainty in outcomes.”
LA Knight continues to be a star attraction with passionate fans backing his quest for the championship. The upcoming match in New Orleans holds immense significance for his career trajectory.
