Former White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, offered insights into President Donald Trump’s diplomatic style. In a recent interview, she recalled key exchanges with global leaders and a notable interaction with former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Direct Conversations with Leaders

Leavitt appeared on the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast, where she discussed Trump’s straightforward manner during conversations with leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. She recounted an instance when Trump spoke candidly with Starmer during a lunch meeting.

“I sat in on a lunch with the president and Starmer,” Leavitt shared. “Trump criticized Starmer’s policies bluntly, confronting him about issues like border security and deportation.”

Leavitt stressed that Trump’s candid nature with both allies and adversaries was consistent. “What he says to the media is what happens behind closed doors,” she stated.

No-Nonsense Approach

In discussions with Putin and Xi, Leavitt described Trump’s directness during tense phone calls. “The president kept these high-stakes conversations professional,” she explained.

During a meeting with Xi in South Korea, Trump addressed concerns about fentanyl production in China. “He insisted on action against the precursors of fentanyl,” Leavitt noted, highlighting Trump’s focus on tangible results.

Following their talks, China announced the cessation of these precursor shipments, meeting Trump’s demands. Furthermore, Trump urged China to increase purchases of U.S. soybeans, supporting American agriculture. Leavitt remarked, “China complied after their meeting.”

Leavitt’s Departure

In August, Leavitt announced her departure from the White House, choosing to prioritize her family. She welcomed her second child in May.

Leavitt reflected on her tenure via a post, highlighting her pride in advocating for the administration and maintaining transparency with the American public.
