A practice session between the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers was interrupted on Tuesday due to a concerning medical situation involving a Jets player. Cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers required immediate medical attention and was removed from the field in Florham Park, New Jersey. ESPN reported that he was administered an IV while still on the turf.

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn recounted that Stiggers approached the bench following a play and subsequently lost consciousness, though he later regained awareness. Glenn commended the medical team involved and assured that Stiggers was “able to talk” and generally in “good” condition.

The day’s heat, recorded at 85 degrees in Florham Park, may have contributed to the incident. Temperatures had neared triple digits over the preceding weekend.

During the same practice, Stiggers was involved in one of at least three on-field altercations. Without attending college, Stiggers pursued football in the Fan Controlled League post-high school and then played a season in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Jets, marking the first time someone had moved directly from the CFL to the NFL since 1999. In the past season, Stiggers appeared in 15 games and made notable contributions with 27 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
